Dry Fruits & Nuts — Line 11
Soya chunks
Textured vegetable protein extruded from defatted soya flour, typically around 50% protein. Chunks, mini chunks and granules, for meat-free manufacture and catering volume.
About the line
Cheap protein, done properly.
Textured vegetable protein is made by extruding defatted soya flour under heat and pressure, which realigns the protein into a fibrous structure that rehydrates into something with a genuinely meat-like bite. It is the cheapest credible protein in the food industry by a wide margin, it is shelf stable dry, and it has moved from being a value ingredient to being the base of a large share of the meat-free category.
Two things separate good TVP from poor. Protein content, which should be measured rather than assumed — around 50% is the standard for chunks made from properly defatted flour, and anything materially below that is carrying more carbohydrate than you are paying for. And rehydration behaviour, which is what the ingredient actually does in your process: how much water it takes up, how fast, and whether it holds structure through cooking. That second one cannot be read off a certificate, which is why a first order can be a mixed pallet sized for a real trial.

Formats
Chunk, mini and granule.
Format is chosen by what the finished product needs to look like once rehydrated, not by price.
| Format | Size | Rehydration | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chunks | Large | ~2.5–3x by weight | Curries, catering, meat-free centre-of-plate |
| Mini chunks | Medium | ~2.5–3x | Ready meals, fillings, bakes |
| Granules / mince | Small | ~2.5x | Bolognese, keema, burger and sausage systems |
| Soya flour, defatted | Powder | — | Bakery, protein fortification |
| Textured soya protein, flavoured | To specification | — | To order |
Specification
Protein content measured per lot, typically around 50% on chunks. Moisture, microbiology and pesticide residue reported. Non-GMO status and allergen statements issued on request.
Packing
20 kg and 25 kg food-grade PP bags or cartons, palletised. TVP is very light for its volume, so transport is quoted on cubic space rather than weight alone.
Applications
Meat-free and meat-extended manufacture, ready meals, catering and institutional volume, protein fortification in bakery, and retail dry-goods packs.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
What protein content should we expect?
Around 50% on standard chunks made from properly defatted soya flour, measured and reported per lot. If a quotation is materially cheaper than the market, ask for the protein figure first — the gap is usually carbohydrate.
Is it non-GMO?
Non-GMO material is available and comes with the supporting declaration. Say so at the enquiry stage, because it affects both the sourcing and the price, and retro-fitting the paperwork to a shipment already in transit is not possible.
How much water does it take up?
Roughly two and a half to three times its weight, but the number that matters is how it behaves in your process rather than in a beaker. We will send enough material for a proper production trial before you commit to a pallet.
What is the minimum order?
One pallet per line. On a first order we will accept a mixed pallet across two or more lines so you can trial the range without committing a full pallet to each.
What testing is done before shipment?
Aflatoxin, pesticide residue, moisture, microbiology and foreign-matter screening as standard, reported on a Certificate of Analysis tied to the lot you are buying. We test before the goods ship, not after they land, because a failed consignment sitting in a UK bonded warehouse is nobody's idea of a saving.
Who handles importing and customs?
We do. Aarleez Ltd is the importer of record, clears GB import controls, and quotes delivered duty paid to your address, so the number you accept is the number you pay. Ex-warehouse collection is available if you prefer to run your own leg.
How long from order to delivery?
One to two weeks from order confirmation to a UK address on lines we hold or can draw against. Crop-dependent lines can take longer, and we quote the real date rather than the optimistic one.
Can you pack under our own brand?
Yes. Retail-ready and private-label packing is available, including nitrogen flush where shelf life matters. Send us your artwork and pack format and we will quote the packed price rather than the bulk price plus a vague conversion cost.

Ask for a soya chunk quotation.
Tell us the format and the protein figure you are working to. We will send enough for a real production trial, not a teaspoon.
