Botanical Extracts — Withania somnifera
Ashwagandha extract
Root-only extract from Indian-grown Withania somnifera, standardised to 5% withanolides by HPLC and released against a batch certificate you can hand straight to your own QA team.
About the material
Root, not root-and-leaf.
Ashwagandha is the most heavily traded adaptogen in the world, and that volume has produced a wide grey market. The two things that separate a good lot from a cheap one are plant part and assay method. Leaf material is far richer in withaferin A and far cheaper to produce, so blending leaf into a nominally root extract lifts the headline withanolide number at a fraction of the cost — and changes the composition of what your consumer swallows. We buy root-only material and the Certificate of Analysis states the plant part.
The second issue is the assay. A great deal of ashwagandha on the market is standardised by gravimetry or UV, both of which read anything that behaves like a withanolide. HPLC separates and quantifies the individual glycowithanolides, and it is the only figure worth writing on a specification. Our standard offer is 5% withanolides by HPLC on root; 2.5% and 10% are available, and full-spectrum 10:1 root extract if you are formulating to a traditional ratio rather than a marker compound.

FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Is your ashwagandha KSM-66 or Sensoril?
Neither. KSM-66 and Sensoril are branded, patented extracts owned by specific manufacturers and sold at a branded price. We supply generic standardised root extract, assayed by HPLC to the same withanolide specification, which is the sensible choice when you are formulating your own product and do not need to licence a brand name for the label.
Can you match a specification we already buy against?
Usually, yes. Send us the incumbent Certificate of Analysis with the supplier name redacted if you prefer, and we will tell you plainly whether we can match it, better it, or not touch it. We would rather lose the enquiry than promise a specification we cannot hold consistently.
Is the extract organic certified?
Our standard offer is conventional. Certified organic root extract can be sourced to order against a valid certificate; because the certification chain has to be unbroken from farm to your door, we quote it separately and it carries a longer lead time.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Twenty-five kilograms per specification, which is one standard fibre drum. Mixed consignments across two or more extracts are accepted on a first order so you can qualify several actives at once without committing to a full drum of each.
What documentation ships with the goods?
Certificate of Analysis for the specific batch, a heavy-metals and microbiology report, a pesticide-residue screen, and the commercial set: packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin. Allergen, GMO, vegan, halal and BSE/TSE statements are issued on request.
How long does delivery take?
One to two weeks from order confirmation to a UK address for material already in a finished, tested lot. Bespoke specifications that require a fresh production run take longer, and we tell you the honest date at the quotation stage rather than after you have committed.
Who is the importer of record?
Aarleez Ltd. We handle customs clearance and GB import controls, and we quote delivered duty paid to your address so the price you accept is the price you pay. Ex-warehouse collection is available if you would rather run your own leg.
