About the material
Gingerols, shogaols, and heat.
The pungent actives in ginger are the gingerols, and the dominant one is 6-gingerol. Apply heat and they dehydrate into shogaols, which are more pungent still and behave differently in a formulation. That means the drying and extraction temperature is not a processing detail — it decides what you actually receive. A specification written as 5% gingerols without a method or a temperature history can arrive as almost anything.
Our standard offer is 5% total gingerols by HPLC on rhizome. Higher standardisations are available to order, as is a water-soluble grade for beverage work, where a conventional resinous extract will simply refuse to disperse. If your application is a shot, a kombucha or a ready-to-drink line, tell us at the enquiry stage — the wrong grade will look fine in the drum and fail in the tank.

Questions buyers ask
Will this dissolve in a drink?
The standard 5% extract will not — it is a resinous, oil-soluble material and will separate or ring the tank. For any liquid application ask for the water-dispersible grade, and tell us the pH and whether the product is pasteurised, because both change what we should send.
What is the difference between gingerols and shogaols?
Shogaols are what gingerols become when heated. They are more pungent and behave differently in a body and in a formulation. If your specification depends on one or the other, say so — the drying and extraction temperature history is the thing that determines the balance, and it is not something you can correct downstream.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Twenty-five kilograms per specification, which is one standard fibre drum. Mixed consignments across two or more extracts are accepted on a first order so you can qualify several actives at once without committing to a full drum of each.
What documentation ships with the goods?
Certificate of Analysis for the specific batch, a heavy-metals and microbiology report, a pesticide-residue screen, and the commercial set: packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin. Allergen, GMO, vegan, halal and BSE/TSE statements are issued on request.
How long does delivery take?
One to two weeks from order confirmation to a UK address for material already in a finished, tested lot. Bespoke specifications that require a fresh production run take longer, and we tell you the honest date at the quotation stage rather than after you have committed.
