Turmeric powder and fresh rhizome, raw material for curcumin extraction

Botanical Extracts — Curcuma longa

Curcumin 95%

Total curcuminoids at 95% by HPLC, extracted from Indian turmeric rhizome. The workhorse active behind most joint, liver and inflammation-positioned formulations sold in the UK.

About the material

Three curcuminoids, one number.

"95% curcumin" is shorthand for 95% total curcuminoids — a mixture of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin, of which curcumin itself is roughly 75 to 80%. A specification that says only 95% without naming the assay method is not a specification. Ours is measured by HPLC and the ratio between the three is on the certificate, because if you are formulating a fixed-dose product that ratio is what determines your actual curcumin load.

The two questions worth asking a curcumin supplier are about solvents and about what is on the outside of the molecule. Extraction leaves residual solvent, and the residue limit belongs on the certificate rather than in a conversation. And because plain curcumin is famously poorly absorbed, most finished formulations pair it with something — piperine, a phospholipid complex, or a nanoparticle carrier. We supply the plain 95% material; if your formulation needs a bioavailability system we will say so rather than sell you a standard extract and let the claim fail.

Specification

Curcumin and turmeric, side by side.

Buyers often ask for one and mean the other. Curcumin is the isolated active; turmeric extract is the whole rhizome concentrated to a ratio.

Specification

95% total curcuminoids by HPLC. Moisture below 5%. Residual solvent, heavy metals, microbiology and pesticide residue reported on every batch certificate.

Packing

25 kg fibre drums, double food-grade liner, light-protected. Curcumin is photosensitive and stains, so drums are lined and shipped in outer cartons on a wrapped pallet.

Applications

Joint and inflammation-positioned supplements, liver formulas, sports recovery, functional food and beverage, and natural colour where a declared extract is acceptable.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Is this curcumin or turmeric extract?

Curcumin 95% is the isolated curcuminoid fraction. Turmeric 10:1 is the whole rhizome concentrated ten-fold and typically assays somewhere between 5 and 10% curcuminoids. They are not interchangeable on a label or in a dose calculation, and we will ask which one you actually need before quoting.

Do you supply a bioavailability-enhanced curcumin?

We supply the plain 95% extract and water-dispersible 10% to order. Branded bioavailability systems — phytosome, micellar and similar — are patented and licensed by their owners; if that is what your formulation requires we will tell you plainly rather than sell you standard material.

Will it stain and how should we handle it?

It will. Curcumin is an intense dye and will mark equipment, garments and porous surfaces permanently. Most manufacturers dedicate a blending line or run it last in a campaign. We mention it because it is the single most common operational surprise for a first-time buyer.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Twenty-five kilograms per specification, which is one standard fibre drum. Mixed consignments across two or more extracts are accepted on a first order so you can qualify several actives at once without committing to a full drum of each.

What documentation ships with the goods?

Certificate of Analysis for the specific batch, a heavy-metals and microbiology report, a pesticide-residue screen, and the commercial set: packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin. Allergen, GMO, vegan, halal and BSE/TSE statements are issued on request.

How long does delivery take?

One to two weeks from order confirmation to a UK address for material already in a finished, tested lot. Bespoke specifications that require a fresh production run take longer, and we tell you the honest date at the quotation stage rather than after you have committed.

Who is the importer of record?

Aarleez Ltd. We handle customs clearance and GB import controls, and we quote delivered duty paid to your address so the price you accept is the price you pay. Ex-warehouse collection is available if you would rather run your own leg.
