Amla fruit and standardised extract powder

Botanical Extracts — Emblica officinalis

Amla extract

Indian gooseberry fruit, standardised to 40% tannins. The backbone of hair, skin and antioxidant-positioned ranges, and the most-used single fruit in ayurvedic formulation.

About the material

The vitamin C question.

Amla is marketed almost everywhere as a vitamin C powerhouse, and the raw fruit genuinely is. The complication is that ascorbic acid is heat labile and largely does not survive conventional drying and extraction. A great deal of amla extract sold on a vitamin C story contains very little native vitamin C, and some of it has been spiked with synthetic ascorbic acid to make the number work — which is a labelling problem, not a quality upgrade.

We standardise on tannins, which is the honest marker for what actually survives the process, and our standard offer is 40%. If your product needs a genuine vitamin C content we will tell you what is realistically achievable and what the certificate will show, rather than sell you a number you cannot defend if a trading standards officer asks how it got there.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

How much vitamin C does it contain?

Less than the marketing across this category implies. Native ascorbic acid largely does not survive drying and extraction, and extracts showing a high vitamin C figure have often been spiked with synthetic ascorbic acid. We standardise on tannins because that is the honest marker, and we will tell you what a realistic vitamin C figure looks like before you write one on a label.

Is it hygroscopic?

Yes, markedly so. Keep drums sealed, avoid leaving material open on a humid line, and expect caking if it is stored badly. It is worth planning the blending step around this rather than discovering it mid-campaign.

Can you supply triphala?

Yes, on enquiry — the traditional amla, bibhitaki and haritaki blend, milled and tested. It is quoted separately from the standardised extract because it is a different product with a different specification.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Twenty-five kilograms per specification, which is one standard fibre drum. Mixed consignments across two or more extracts are accepted on a first order so you can qualify several actives at once without committing to a full drum of each.

What documentation ships with the goods?

Certificate of Analysis for the specific batch, a heavy-metals and microbiology report, a pesticide-residue screen, and the commercial set: packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin. Allergen, GMO, vegan, halal and BSE/TSE statements are issued on request.

How long does delivery take?

One to two weeks from order confirmation to a UK address for material already in a finished, tested lot. Bespoke specifications that require a fresh production run take longer, and we tell you the honest date at the quotation stage rather than after you have committed.

Who is the importer of record?

Aarleez Ltd. We handle customs clearance and GB import controls, and we quote delivered duty paid to your address so the price you accept is the price you pay. Ex-warehouse collection is available if you would rather run your own leg.
