Dry Fruits & Nuts — Line 08

Dried figs

Whole anjeer graded on diameter and colour, plus diced fig for bakery and bars. A premium line where the difference between grades is visible across a room.

About the line

Diameter is the grade.

Dried figs are graded on diameter, and the jump in price between a small fig and a large one is steeper than most first-time buyers expect. Large, pale, evenly-flattened figs go into gifting boxes and premium retail. Smaller and darker fruit is perfectly good eating and costs a great deal less, which is why it is the sensible choice for anything that will be chopped, baked or blended.

Two things to watch. Figs are prone to sugaring — a white crystalline bloom on the surface that alarms consumers and is entirely harmless, being glucose migrating out of the fruit as it sits. Retail buyers reject it anyway, so storage temperature and turnover matter. And figs sit in the higher-risk group for aflatoxin, which means testing at origin and a lot certificate, not a reassurance.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

There is a white bloom on the figs. Is something wrong?

Almost certainly not. It is sugaring — glucose migrating to the surface as the fruit sits, and it is harmless. Consumers read it as mould, so retail buyers reject it; keeping figs cool and turning stock over quickly is the practical answer. We flag it because it is the most common cause of an unnecessary rejection on this line.

Why is the price gap between grades so large?

Diameter. Large, pale, well-formed figs are a small proportion of any crop and they carry the gifting market on their own. If the fruit is going to be diced or baked, buying a premium diameter grade is money spent on something the consumer will never see.

What is the minimum order?

One pallet per line. On a first order we will accept a mixed pallet across two or more lines so you can trial the range without committing a full pallet to each.

What testing is done before shipment?

Aflatoxin, pesticide residue, moisture, microbiology and foreign-matter screening as standard, reported on a Certificate of Analysis tied to the lot you are buying. We test before the goods ship, not after they land, because a failed consignment sitting in a UK bonded warehouse is nobody's idea of a saving.

Who handles importing and customs?

We do. Aarleez Ltd is the importer of record, clears GB import controls, and quotes delivered duty paid to your address, so the number you accept is the number you pay. Ex-warehouse collection is available if you prefer to run your own leg.

How long from order to delivery?

One to two weeks from order confirmation to a UK address on lines we hold or can draw against. Crop-dependent lines can take longer, and we quote the real date rather than the optimistic one.

Can you pack under our own brand?

Yes. Retail-ready and private-label packing is available, including nitrogen flush where shelf life matters. Send us your artwork and pack format and we will quote the packed price rather than the bulk price plus a vague conversion cost.

Next step

Ask for a fig quotation.

Tell us the diameter grade and the format. We will send the certificate of the lot we are quoting with a delivered price.
